Return to bar stop

The gig @ raffles hotel ended by 10.30pm and i was contemplating where to go.

It was a fun gig with bobby nailing the grooves and ramon wowing the audience and ladies with his singing.

The boys wanna grab some food but the adrenaline was still pumping @ 130km/hr. My heart will not pass if i drive by any speed camera.

It was good and as i turned out of the car park, i was at 2 minds of where to go. Home is the ultimate destination but i was hoping to sneak into 2 places. it would either have to be crazy elephant or bar stop.

In the end, i was conveniently funnelled by the orchard road traffic to bar stop. Actually, i was keen to jam @ crazy elephat but i remembered that mean jean will not be back yet and thus, my wheels drifted to bar stop.

It was apprenhensive at first. Dun ask me why but felt kinda like meeting an ex gf. Meeting part of a past that was sweet with ounces of bitterness. bitter not because we stopped but bitter due to the new layout that no longer welcomed a 4 piece band.

But it seems like the concept works cause there is a reasonable crowd on tuesday!

I do abit out of place. Even though the place was littered with cozy corners, the familiar tall chairs were relocated upstairs. now bar stop offers food at both levels. that is good but i decline the offer to dine. it is not because i dun hold fond memories of the food but the setting being new, feels foreign.

Though i am still welcomed by the staff but we know it is not the same any more. The stage where i once terrorized is now a safe sanctuary of sofas. Yes, there are actually guests playing cards at the spot where i squeezed with the drummer.

This was the clear signboard that bar stop has moved on with me, without michelle and without the rest of the stuff toys. time for me to bury some and hatch new eggs... ....

At least the gals still remember me - well, i am amongst friends. Friendship that will outlast the new and old deco.

On the 2nd floor came the sweet voice of agnes and the distinctive playing of mei. Still very enchanting i must say. for that moment, i resisted the urge to pull out my sax to jam, being respectful of the gig that commands 2 only.

I will return and soon to enjoy my apple vodka again.

Then, it will be cheers to old friends and a new stop, a new start to my musical journey in 2010.

Praise the Lord!
