I have realized that u dun have to win everything in life in order to successful. remember lightning mcqueen from cars who came in last in the sudden death race from the pistons cup. :p
just read an interesting observation about middle management:
When we look down, we can only see shit and when we look up, it is no wonder that we see assholes.
This remains a general observation and should there be any resemblance to any real life characters, consider it coincidental.
My dear bosses, the clause applies especially to you. :p
in the end, i realize that talent + hard work does not always bring one to the top. We have to see whether we fit into the strategies of the top management.
Dun complain if less competent men are given career expressways. I have learnt that some surround themselves with men less capable, thus putting themselves in indispensible position. At times, the top management only wish to be surrounded by yes men. This also explained why unwilling men are led by unable ones to do work that are somewhat unnecessary.
It is so typical to find people who are handling work for few others who left due to glass ceilings of their career. In the end, it becomes much more expensive to replace them with people able to do less of the work, yet commanding more of the pay.
As bill gates rightfully put it, life is not fair, get used to it. :p
however, it is important that individually, we are making the difference, transforming the part of the world under our jurisdiction. Making it the best possible family, one united task force. The world is changed one by one.
Yes, we maybe overworked but we are taking our experience with us. Hopefully, somewhere near the horizon, we will be part of a company who truly appreciates our competencies and take care of us accordingly. even if not, remember, it is only but a job. True wealth is portable, is that which lies in our heads.
People are the best and worst investments. let us continue to sow into them, leaving our legacies for the next generation. :p
